ADC Bars New Executives from Office Ahead of Formal Inauguration

The African Democratic Congress has directed its newly elected state executives and party officers to stay off office pending their formal inauguration, insisting that current leaders remain in charge.

The party, in a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the move was to prevent confusion and avoid any power tussle within its structure.

It stated that the tenure of the newly elected officials would only commence after the expiration of the current executives’ tenure and their formal inauguration scheduled for May 12, 2026, or any later date to be announced.

According to the party, all existing executives remain the duly recognized officers until the transition process is fully completed.

The ADC warned incoming officials, particularly at the state level, against actions that could create parallel authority or disrupt party order.

It urged them to refrain from any conduct that contravenes the directive, stressing the need for discipline during the transition.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to due process, orderliness and adherence to its constitution as it prepares for a smooth leadership transition.
