Adelabu Resigns as Power Minister to Pursue Oyo Governorship Bid


The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has resigned from his position to focus on his governorship ambition in Oyo State.

In a resignation letter dated April 22, 2026, and addressed to President Bola Tinubu, Adelabu stated that his exit will take effect from April 30, 2026, to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities at the ministry.

He explained that the decision was taken to allow him concentrate fully on his political aspiration in Oyo State, while also providing enough time for an orderly handover process.

Adelabu expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve, noting that he was stepping down with a deep sense of honour and gratitude for the experience gained during his tenure as minister.
