Ajose Faults APC Consensus Move, Demands Fair Process in Lagos Governorship Race

An All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Samuel Ajose, has criticised moves to adopt a consensus candidate following the endorsement of Obafemi Hamzat.

Ajose spoke on The Morning Show on Arise Television, where he questioned the timing and credibility of the consensus arrangement after aspirants had already purchased nomination forms.

He said his ambition is rooted in representing underserved communities, particularly Badagry, which he described as neglected over the years.

According to him, introducing a consensus option after selling forms to multiple aspirants undermines the integrity of the process and disregards the investments made by contestants.

Ajose noted that while consensus is recognised within the party and the constitution, it must follow due process and involve all stakeholders to avoid internal disputes.

He stressed that the governorship race should remain a fair contest, urging party leadership to ensure transparency and inclusiveness in selecting its candidate.

The criticism comes amid ongoing developments within the APC, where key stakeholders have backed Hamzat as the preferred candidate ahead of the 2027 Lagos governorship election.
