Amaechi Explains Exit from PDP, APC, Blames Party Takeovers

Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, says his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party and later the All Progressives Congress was due to what he described as internal party takeovers that forced him out.

Amaechi, now a presidential aspirant under the African Democratic Congress, made the claim during an interview on Channels Television on Friday.

He alleged that former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan, took control of the PDP structure in Rivers State, effectively pushing him out of the party.

He also said a similar situation occurred in the APC after he contested the party’s presidential primary, claiming he was again edged out of the party structure.

According to him, “I was chased out of PDP, APC by the then president. The president and his wife took over the party structure in Rivers State and chased me out. The same thing happened in APC.”

Amaechi maintained that his decisions to leave both parties were not voluntary but were influenced by internal political struggles.
