Kwara APC Elders Endorse Senator Umar, Cite Equity, Fairness

The Elders Caucus of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State has urged all governorship aspirants from Kwara North Senatorial District to step down for Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar ahead of the 2027 election.

The caucus made the call during separate engagements with journalists in Offa and Ilorin, where it formally endorsed Umar, who currently represents Kwara North in the Senate.

Chairman of the caucus, Chief James Ayeni, said the endorsement followed consultations with aspirants and was based on considerations of equity, justice, fairness and inclusiveness.

He appealed to other aspirants from the district to support Umar in the interest of unity and collective progress, stressing that the caucus remains committed to its longstanding position that the governorship seat should be zoned to Kwara North.

Other aspirants from the regio include Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Salihu Yakubu Danladi, chartered accountant Tajudeen Audu and Mohammed Bio.

At a town hall meeting in Offa, the elders described Umar as a capable leader with the experience and competence required to address the challenges facing the state.

They said his candidacy represents a bridge between exclusion and inclusion, expressing confidence in his ability to secure victory with broad-based support.

The caucus reiterated that its endorsement aligns with efforts to promote balanced representation and inclusive governance in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
