JAMB Apologises for Delay in UTME Results, Promises Release Before Nightfall

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has apologised for the delay in releasing results for candidates who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on Friday, April 17, 2026.

The board had earlier scheduled Saturday for the release of the second batch of results but failed to meet the deadline, prompting frustration among candidates.

In a statement issued on Sunday, JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, attributed the delay to the unavailability of the board’s chief executive due to an official engagement.

He assured candidates that the results would be released later in the day, before nightfall.

Benjamin also apologised to candidates who stayed up waiting for the results, appreciating their patience and understanding.

The development follows the earlier release of the first batch of results for candidates who wrote the examination on Thursday, April 16, with 632,788 results made available.

Candidates were advised to check their results via SMS by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number used for registration.

The Federal Government has approved a comprehensive restructuring of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, marking the first major reform of the scheme since its establishment 53 years ago. The approval was granted at the federal executive council meeting held in Abuja on Monday as part of efforts to reposition the NYSC into a skills-focused and productivity-driven institution aligned with the Federal Government’s economic and youth development agenda. The Federal Government has announced that the traditional khaki uniform of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, will be replaced with Adire fabric as part of ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the scheme and promoting local production.
