Kwara Pupils Shine Globally, Win Governor’s Praise

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has commended two pupils from the state for winning a silver medal at an international spelling bee competition in Harare, Zimbabwe, where they represented Nigeria.

The governor gave the commendation in a Facebook post on Friday, praising Yusuf Abdurrahman Oreoluwa and Yusuf Maryam of Ar-Raheem International College, Ilorin, for their outstanding academic performance.

He noted that the duo, alongside Adeolu Oluwadamilola Oreofe from Ekiti State, represented Nigeria at the competition, leading to the country’s silver medal finish.

According to AbdulRazaq, the pupils have also qualified to represent Nigeria at a global competition scheduled to take place in China in the coming months.

He described the achievement as a proud moment for the state, commending the pupils for serving as worthy ambassadors and contributing to Kwara’s growing reputation for academic excellence.

The governor also congratulated their parents and the management of Ar-Raheem International College for the milestone, urging them to sustain the standard.

AbdulRazaq linked the success to his administration’s continued investment in quality and accessible education, noting that such efforts are critical to long-term societal development.

He added that the achievement reflects the benefits of collaboration between the government and key stakeholders in the education sector.

The spelling bee competition attracted participants from various countries and tested students’ proficiency in English vocabulary, pronunciation and spelling through multiple rounds.
