Opposition Coalition Plan for Single Candidate Will Save Nigeria, Says PDP Aspirant
A gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, , has said that the decision by opposition leaders to present a single candidate against in the 2027 general election will help save Nigeria and strengthen its democracy.
Oguntoyinbo made the declaration in a statement issued on Sunday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, following a meeting of opposition political figures held on Saturday in the city.
At the meeting, prominent chieftains from various opposition parties resolved to unite and field a single presidential candidate to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 election.
Reacting to the development, Oguntoyinbo commended the opposition leaders for what he described as a bold and strategic decision aimed at rescuing the country from its current challenges.
He said the move would not only improve the chances of defeating the ruling party but also prevent Nigeria’s democracy from collapsing.
“The decision to field a single candidate is wise and will lead to victory for opposition parties in 2027,” he said.
Oguntoyinbo added that the coalition effort was both timely and necessary, stressing that Nigeria’s democratic future depends on the willingness of opposition parties to put aside personal ambitions and work together for the collective good.
