Osinbajo Shares Story Behind Decision to Stop Drinking

Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has shared how an encounter with a colleague in Somalia led him to stop consuming alcohol.

Osinbajo disclosed this in a video circulating on social media, where he recounted the incident that influenced his decision while serving in the justice sector of a United Nations mission in Mogadishu.

He said that despite being a pastor, he occasionally took red wine and beer before the incident.

According to him, the turning point came when he visited a restaurant in the UN compound to buy beer after preaching at a fellowship.

He explained that upon entering the restaurant, he met colleagues from different countries who were drinking but quickly hid their drinks when they saw him.

Osinbajo said he questioned a Danish colleague about the gesture and was told that they could not drink in the presence of a priest.

He noted that the response struck him deeply and made him reflect on his values, describing the moment as a personal turning point.

The former vice president added that he has not consumed alcohol since the incident.

The video has since generated mixed reactions online, with some viewers describing the account as relatable and humorous, while others reflected on his public image and past role in government.
