Oyo Chief Whip Alleges Inducement Plot Linked to Impeachment Rumour

The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Gbenga Oyekola, has alleged that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja, and former First Lady, Florence Ajimobi, attempted to influence the Speaker over an alleged plot to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.

Oyekola made the allegation in a statement issued on Tuesday, distancing himself from the reported impeachment plan and claiming that some individuals were working to turn the assembly against the governor.

He alleged that the Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, was invited by the monarch after previously seeking his support for a 2027 governorship ambition.

According to Oyekola, the Olubadan allegedly advised the Speaker and offered to facilitate a House of Representatives ticket under the All Progressives Congress, along with financial backing, but the Speaker declined.

The lawmaker further claimed that Ogundoyin was also approached by Ajimobi, who allegedly offered financial inducement, which he said the Speaker rejected.

The allegations come amid ongoing political tension in the state over rumours of an impeachment move against the governor.
