Oyo Cracks Down on Illegal Street Trading, Seizes Motorcycles at Eleyele

The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority has intensified efforts to curb illegal street activities, seizing 10 motorcycles and arresting several offenders during an operation at Eleyele Market in Ibadan.

The exercise, led by the agency’s chairperson, Aderonke Aderemi, involved the dismantling of illegal roadside stalls and removal of structures obstructing roads and pedestrian walkways.

Officials said the operation targeted traders and commercial motorcycle riders who failed to comply with existing regulations, noting that such illegal structures hinder movement and pose safety risks.

The agency confirmed that those arrested have been taken into custody and will face legal action.

It added that the enforcement drive is part of a broader statewide initiative to eliminate street trading and maintain order in public spaces.

The authority also urged residents to comply with regulations and support efforts to keep the environment clean, safe and accessible.
