Senate Screens Darma for Ministerial Appointment

The Senate on Thursday commenced the screening of ministerial nominee Muttaqha Darma following his nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Darma appeared before the lawmakers at about 12.32 p.m., where he is currently responding to questions from senators during plenary.

The nomination followed a request by Tinubu, conveyed in a letter read on the floor by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday.

Akpabio subsequently referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for consideration, with a directive to report back as soon as practicable.

Further details are expected as the screening continues.
