Tinubu Appoints New Heads for NECO, NBTE, Others
President Bola Tinubu has approved fresh appointments across key education agencies, including the National Examinations Council and the National Board for Technical Education, as part of efforts to strengthen the sector.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Prof Modupe Adeola Adelabu has been appointed Chairman of the Governing Board of NECO, while Prof Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi will continue as Registrar.
Prof Babatunde Salako was named Chairman of the National Board for Technical Education, while Prof Idris Bugaje had earlier been reappointed as Executive Secretary for a second and final term of five years.
In the polytechnic sector, Dr Bongfa Binfa was appointed Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam, Plateau State, for a single term of five years, succeeding Dr Mukaila Zakari Ya’u.
The President also renewed the tenure of Prof Chinwe Veronica Anunobi as Director-General of the National Library of Nigeria for a final term of five years.
The presidency said the appointments are aimed at strengthening leadership, ensuring continuity in reforms and improving service delivery across the education sector.
