Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting, which took place around 4 p.m., was confirmed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who shared details and photographs on social media.
Although no official statement was issued on the agenda, the visit is part of ongoing consultations between both leaders on West African political developments and Nigeria’s regional engagements.
Wednesday’s meeting follows Jonathan’s previous visit to the Villa in November 2025, shortly after his involvement in election observation activities in Guinea-Bissau.
At the time, Jonathan, who led a mission under the West African Elders Forum, briefed Tinubu on the political situation in the country following a military intervention that disrupted the electoral process.
The former president has remained active in regional diplomacy, participating in election monitoring and mediation efforts across West Africa, including in Mali, The Gambia, Liberia and Guinea-Bissau.
He has described his post-presidential role as that of a “roving ambassador” committed to promoting peace and democratic stability in the region.
