2027: Makinde Emerges APM Presidential Candidate

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) following a unanimous affirmation by the party’s leadership at its presidential primary in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The affirmation took place on Saturday at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, where party leaders, delegates and stakeholders gathered for the exercise.

Announcing the outcome, APM National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Dantali, described the primary as one of the most peaceful, transparent and rancour-free political exercises in the country’s history.

Following the affirmation, Dantali presented Makinde with the party’s Certificate of Return and formally handed over the party’s flag, signifying his emergence as the APM’s standard-bearer for the presidential election.

Makinde’s candidacy was unanimously endorsed by the party’s 36 state chairmen, a development the party said reflected widespread support for his leadership across the federation.

The presidential primary is part of the party’s ongoing political activities and follows the successful conduct of its governorship and State House of Assembly primaries in recent days.
