2027: Oyo APC Leaders Endorse Alli as Consensus Guber Candidate

Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State have endorsed Senator Sharafadeen Alli as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The endorsement was announced on Friday at a meeting held in Ibadan, the state capital, attended by party leaders and members from the five geopolitical zones of the state.

Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the Senate on the platform of the APC, hails from Ibadan.

Speaking at the meeting, APC chieftain Senator Hamzat Adeseun said the gathering was convened to affirm Alli’s candidacy following consultations among stakeholders.

Adeseun stated that the decision was further influenced by the position of President Bola Tinubu, noting that his views as leader of the party carry significant weight.

Another party chieftain, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, also backed the endorsement, revealing that he had held discussions with the President on the matter.

According to him, Tinubu had expressed support for Alli as the preferred candidate for the 2027 election in the state.

Ibikunle urged other aspirants within the party to align with the consensus decision in the interest of unity and cohesion.
