ADC Dismisses Exclusion Rumours, Confirms Readiness for Elections
The African Democratic Congress has declared its readiness to participate in the 2027 general elections, rejecting claims that it may be unable to field candidates as false and misleading.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made this known in a statement issued on Saturday, stating that the ADC remains fully prepared and focused on strengthening its structures nationwide ahead of the polls.
The clarification follows mixed reactions to a recent ruling by the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the party’s leadership crisis, which some observers interpreted as a potential obstacle to its participation in the 2027 elections.
Addressing the concerns, Abdullahi said there is no legal barrier preventing the party from contesting, stressing that the ADC will present credible and widely acceptable candidates for all elective positions.
He added that the party remains committed to mobilising Nigerians and positioning itself as a strong opposition platform, amid reports that figures such as Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso may leave the party.
The ADC reaffirmed its mission to challenge the ruling government and win the 2027 elections, urging members and supporters to disregard speculation about its participation and remain focused on its political objectives.
