ADC Insists Coalition Remains Strong Despite Obi, Kwankwaso Exit
The African Democratic Congress has said it has moved on from the exit of former presidential candidates Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso from the party.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated this on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show.
Abdullahi described the departure of the two politicians as a “glitch,” insisting that the party has stabilised and remained focused on its broader political objectives.
Peter Obi and Kwankwaso recently defected from the ADC to the Nigerian Democratic Congress, citing internal political disputes and ongoing court cases within the party as reasons for their exit.
Reacting to the development, Abdullahi said the ADC had already moved beyond the defections and continued to pursue its mission of strengthening opposition politics in Nigeria.
According to him, the party’s goal remains stopping what he described as the steady decline in governance and promoting a stronger multi party democratic system.
He maintained that despite some politicians leaving for other parties, the vision of building a formidable opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections remains alive.
Abdullahi added that the current political dynamics still support efforts to unite opposition forces against the ruling All Progressives Congress.
