ADC Promises Living Wage, Pension Reforms for Workers
The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Senator David Mark, has pledged that the party will champion policies aimed at guaranteeing a living wage and comprehensive pension reforms for Nigerian workers.
Mark made this known in his 2026 Workers Day message released on Friday and signed by his Technical Adviser on Strategic Communications, Kola Ologbondiyan.
He said the party would advocate policies that create real jobs, reward productivity and tackle corruption, stressing that economic reforms must go beyond what he described as statistical claims.
The former Senate President expressed concern over the condition of many Nigerian workers, noting that a significant number labour without fair wages, job security or hope for a better future.
He stated that a nation cannot claim progress if it fails to protect the dignity of its workforce, adding that current economic realities have worsened workers’ welfare.
According to him, rising inflation has eroded salaries, unemployment has increased hardship and the ability of citizens to express themselves is under threat.
Mark assured workers that the ADC remains committed to restoring confidence in the workforce and rebuilding hope across the country.
He commended Nigerian workers for their resilience and sacrifices, describing them as the backbone of the nation’s survival across key sectors of the economy.
The ADC chairman also warned that national development could be undermined if the labour movement becomes divided or weakened, noting that the responsibility of rebuilding the country rests largely on workers.
He wished Nigerian workers a peaceful Workers Day, expressing optimism that the country would recover through their continued efforts.
