Adelabu Declares Oyo Governorship Ambition, Unveils Rebirth Agenda
A former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on Tuesday officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, promising a “Rebirth Agenda” aimed at economic transformation and job creation.
Adelabu made the declaration in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where he pledged to reposition the state’s economy through people-centred governance, improved security, agricultural development, and grassroots administration.
The former minister said his development blueprint, tagged “Oyo Rebirth Agenda,” would focus on effective local government administration, modern security architecture, agricultural revolution, education reform, healthcare transformation, urban renewal, civil service reforms, and women empowerment.
According to him, the ambition represents a movement to restore, rebuild, reposition, and reclaim Oyo State for sustainable progress and prosperity.
“I am contesting because governance must go beyond rhetoric; it must produce measurable development,” Adelabu said during the declaration.
He added that leadership requires capacity, competence, character, compassion, and courage, stressing that he was presenting himself as a prepared and committed leader determined to deliver results for the people of the state.
Adelabu also appealed for unity among members and leaders of the APC in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 election, describing solidarity within the party as essential for victory.
He urged party stakeholders to prioritise discipline, collective interest, and shared success over personal ambition, noting that progress and electoral success could only be achieved through unity.
