APC Primaries: Tinubu Commends Governors, Hails Internal Democracy

President Bola Tinubu has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the ongoing All Progressives Congress, APC, direct presidential primaries across the country, commending state governors for their handling of the exercise.

Tinubu spoke on Saturday shortly after casting his vote in the APC presidential direct primary in Lagos State.

The President described the exercise as a demonstration of internal democracy, noting that the process had progressed smoothly in line with the party’s plans.

According to him, the direct primary system gives every registered member of the party the opportunity to participate in the selection of the APC presidential candidate.

“This is a demonstration of internal democracy and it’s been going very well according to plan,” Tinubu said.

“This is grassroots politics, where every member of the party has the right to participate and be involved. This is to ensure we have internal democracy.”

Tinubu also praised APC governors for their roles in coordinating the exercise in their respective states.

“I’m very satisfied with the process till date that these governors have done well in their various states,” he added.

The President stated that the process, beginning from ward congresses to local government congresses, delegates accreditation, membership verification and electoral procedures, reflected a high standard of democratic practice within the ruling party.

“From the ward congresses to the local government congresses, to delegates accreditation, members register and verification of electoral process, it’s been going very well. At least, you will score democracy at a high level,” he said.

The Federal Government has approved a comprehensive restructuring of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, marking the first major reform of the scheme since its establishment 53 years ago. The approval was granted at the federal executive council meeting held in Abuja on Monday as part of efforts to reposition the NYSC into a skills-focused and productivity-driven institution aligned with the Federal Government’s economic and youth development agenda. NYSC Reform: FG Replaces Khaki Uniform With Adire Fabric

The Federal Government has announced that the traditional khaki uniform of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, will be replaced with Adire fabric as part of ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the scheme and promoting local production. The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, disclosed this on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, saying the initiative is designed to strengthen indigenous industries and ensure government spending supports Nigeria’s economy.
