APM Begins Presidential Primary in Ibadan as INEC Monitors Exercise
The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has commenced its presidential primary election in Ibadan, Oyo State, as political activities intensify ahead of future electoral contests and amid growing attention surrounding an opposition coalition reportedly being championed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
The exercise, which is currently underway at Ogunlesi Hall, opposite the University College Hospital (UCH), is drawing delegates, party leaders, political stakeholders and supporters from different parts of the country.
The presidential primary follows the successful conduct of the party’s governorship and State House of Assembly primaries held a few days earlier.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are present to monitor the exercise, while security personnel have been deployed to maintain order and ensure a peaceful process.
The event is expected to produce the party’s presidential candidate and further shape discussions surrounding emerging political alignments within the opposition ahead of the next general election.
More details are expected as the exercise progresses.
