Atiku, Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen Obtain ADC Nomination Forms

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi have obtained the presidential expression of interest and nomination forms of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Another presidential aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has also picked the form, pledging to focus on security, job creation and the rising cost of living in Nigeria.

The National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed on Friday that the three aspirants had obtained their nomination forms, which cost N90 million.

Hayatu-Deen received his form from the party’s National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, and said the 2027 election must prioritise economic recovery and national security.

He said Nigerians are facing worsening hardship, rising unemployment and insecurity, stressing that the country cannot achieve economic growth without addressing instability.

According to him, the election should not be business as usual but a contest focused on rebuilding the economy, creating jobs and improving living conditions for citizens.

The ADC has fixed the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms between May 6 and May 13, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while governorship and state assembly elections will hold on February 6, 2027.

INEC also announced that party primaries and resolution of disputes will take place between April 23 and May 30, 2026, with campaign activities for presidential and National Assembly elections set to begin on August 19, 2026.
