Atiku Meets Amaechi After ADC Presidential Primary Victory

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday visited former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, following the party’s recently concluded presidential primary election.

The meeting comes days after Atiku defeated Amaechi to secure the ADC presidential ticket for the 2027 general election.

Amaechi had earlier rejected the outcome of the primary election, alleging that the exercise was marred by irregularities and widespread disenfranchisement of party members.

Despite the disagreement that followed the election, Atiku, during his acceptance speech after emerging as the party’s candidate, appealed to Amaechi and other aggrieved members of the ADC to unite and work with him ahead of the presidential election.

Details of Thursday’s meeting were not immediately disclosed, as both politicians were yet to brief journalists at the end of the visit.

However, political observers believe the meeting may be part of Atiku’s efforts to reconcile with Amaechi and secure his support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
