EFCC Declares Former Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq Wanted
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over alleged abuse of office and diversion of public funds.
The anti-graft agency announced the development in a notice published on its official website on Saturday, urging members of the public to provide information that could lead to her arrest.
According to the EFCC, Farouq, 52, is an indigene of Zamfara State and her last known address is EN008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja.
The commission appealed to anyone with useful information on her whereabouts to contact any of its offices nationwide through the phone numbers provided in the notice.
The development followed an arrest warrant issued against the former minister by a Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja, on April 16, 2026.
Farouq was appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development by former President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2019 and was the youngest minister in his cabinet at the time.
