Eid al-Kabir: Olubadan Urges Muslims to Remain Vigilant
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has advised Muslims across Nigeria to remain security-conscious during the forthcoming Eid al-Kabir celebrations.
The traditional ruler gave the advice in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, while congratulating Muslim faithful on witnessing another Eid al-Kabir festival.
Oba Ladoja urged worshippers to be vigilant throughout the celebration period, stressing the need for Nigerians to pay close attention to their environment at all times because of the prevailing security challenges in the country.
According to the monarch, celebrating Eid al-Kabir should go beyond merriment and reflect the lessons of sacrifice and obedience demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to offer his son, Ismail, as a sacrifice to God.
He added that although the festival is a period of joy and celebration, Muslims should celebrate prayerfully and soberly in view of the insecurity and other challenges confronting Nigeria.
