FG Delegation Visits Ogbomoso Over Abducted Pupils, Teachers as Rescue Efforts Intensify

The Federal Government has dispatched a high-powered presidential delegation to Ogbomoso, Oyo State, following the abduction of teachers and pupils from schools in Oriire Local Government Area, as efforts to secure the release of the victims continue.

The delegation, led by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, included the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, and the Special Adviser to the President on Public Communications, Sunday Dare.

The visit followed the May 15 attack on Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area, where armed men reportedly abducted about 46 teachers and pupils.

The delegation visited Ogbomoso and proceeded to affected communities, including Esiele and Yawota villages, where they met with community leaders and relatives of the victims. They assured residents that the Federal Government was committed to securing the safe release of those still in captivity.

According to Sunday Dare, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has activated a series of coordinated security measures aimed at rescuing the abducted teachers and pupils and apprehending those responsible for the attack.

Members of the delegation also received briefings on the security situation in the area and reiterated the government's resolve to strengthen ongoing operations until all the victims are safely reunited with their families.

The abduction has drawn widespread concern across Oyo State and beyond, with renewed calls for enhanced security around schools and rural communities to prevent future attacks.
