Gbolarumi Submits Nomination Form, Vows PDP Victory in Oyo

A former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Hazeem Gbolarumi, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will retain power in the state in the 2027 governorship election despite challenges facing the party.

Gbolarumi made the declaration on Saturday shortly after submitting his nomination form at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata House, Abuja, ahead of the 2027 governorship race.

The former deputy governor arrived at the party secretariat with a large crowd of supporters and party faithful from Oyo State, where he was received by senior PDP officials and South West zonal leaders.

Among those who welcomed him were the PDP National Treasurer, Diran Odeyemi, National Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Jungudo, South West Zonal Publicity Secretary, Comrade Akinloye Olusegun Oyeniyi, National Women Leader, Professor Adenike Ogunshe, and Oyo State Chairman, Professor Rahman Akinoso.

Others present included Oyo South Senatorial aspirant, Bolanle Sarumi, alongside party leaders from the 33 local government areas of the state.

Speaking after submitting the form, Gbolarumi said the PDP remained the strongest political party in Oyo State and expressed confidence that it would emerge victorious in 2027.

He called on party members to remain united, adding that efforts were ongoing to resolve internal issues within the party before the election.

“PDP remains the party to beat in Oyo State. We are resolute in retaining power in 2027,” he said.

He acknowledged that the party was facing some challenges but maintained that they would be resolved before the election.

“Every political party has its peculiarities, but we will overcome all our challenges. No political party in Oyo State has the capacity to defeat us in the election,” Gbolarumi added.

He also thanked the party leadership and grassroots supporters for backing his aspiration, noting that his ambition was focused on strengthening party unity and consolidating the PDP’s base across the state.
