House of Reps Primaries: APC Announces Postponement, New Date


The All Progressives Congress, APC, has postponed its House of Representatives primary election for the 2027 general elections to Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The development was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

Morka said all other previously scheduled primary elections, including those for the Senate, State Houses of Assembly, governorship, and presidential positions, would hold on their earlier announced dates.

According to the revised timetable released by the ruling party, the House of Representatives primary election will now take place on May 16, while the Senate primary is scheduled for Monday, May 18.

The State House of Assembly primary election is expected to hold on Wednesday, May 20, followed by the governorship primary on Thursday, May 21.

The APC presidential primary election is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026, as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to intensify across the country.
