Jonathan Holds Talks with ADC Aspirant Hayatu-Deen

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday received Mohammed Hayatu-Deen in Abuja, where both men discussed national issues and the outlook for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

Hayatu-Deen, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, visited the former president after recently obtaining his party’s presidential nomination form.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Mohammed Hayatu-Deen Media Office, the meeting reflected the longstanding relationship between the two men, who previously worked together during Jonathan’s administration.

Hayatu-Deen had served as a member of the National Council on Privatisation and also chaired the Bureau of Public Enterprises when Jonathan was Vice President.

He later served on the Presidential Advisory Committee during Jonathan’s tenure as Acting President and subsequently as President.

During the meeting, Hayatu-Deen informed Jonathan of his decision to contest the 2027 presidential election and praised the former president’s contributions to democratic governance and electoral integrity across Africa.

He described Jonathan as a respected African statesman whose leadership continues to attract recognition across the continent.

Jonathan, in response, welcomed the ADC aspirant and wished him success in his political ambition.

The statement described Hayatu-Deen as an economist and banker with decades of experience in both the public and private sectors.

It added that the presidential aspirant intends to focus on tackling insecurity, reducing the rising cost of living and creating employment opportunities for Nigerians if elected president in 2027.
