Kwara 2027 Election: AbdulRazaq Endorses Yahaya Seriki as Successor

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has endorsed Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki (MFR) as his preferred successor in the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

The endorsement comes ahead of the party’s governorship primary scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026.

In a statement personally made available to journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday, AbdulRazaq said the decision followed extensive consultations with party structures and leadership across the state.

He described Yahaya Seriki as a young, pro-people and broad-minded politician with strong mobilization capacity and wide acceptance across Kwara State.

The governor said he had no doubt about Seriki’s ability to sustain the achievements of his administration, adding that his emergence would promote continuity, unity and progress in the state.

While clarifying that the endorsement does not exclude other aspirants from the race, AbdulRazaq urged party members and stakeholders to support Seriki’s candidacy in the interest of cohesion within the party.

He noted that about 16 aspirants are contesting for the ticket, stressing that only one candidate would emerge through the primary process.

The governor also commended other aspirants for their discipline and contributions to the development of the state, describing their conduct as supportive of his administration’s achievements over the past seven years.
