Kwara 2027: PDP Picks Kale Kawu as Consensus Guber Candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State has adopted Engr. Kale Kawu as its consensus governorship candidate ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

The announcement was made on Saturday by former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, through a post shared on his official X handle following consultations with party stakeholders and leading governorship aspirants in the state.

According to Saraki, the decision was reached after extensive discussions aimed at strengthening unity within the PDP ahead of the party’s governorship primary.

He disclosed that other aspirants agreed to step down in support of Kawu in the overall interest of the party and Kwara State.

Saraki commended the aspirants for what he described as their sacrifice, unity and commitment to the collective ambition of the PDP.

“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the other aspirants who, in the supreme interest of our party and state, have graciously stepped down to support this consensus,” he stated.

He expressed optimism that the consensus arrangement would position the PDP strongly ahead of the governorship election.

The Former Senate President also wished party members, delegates and supporters a peaceful and successful outing during the governorship primary exercise.

“I wish all our members, delegates, and teeming supporters a successful, peaceful, and orderly outing at tomorrow’s gubernatorial primaries,” he added.
