Makinde Vows Better Security for Oyo Economy
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said his administration will continue to prioritise security and strengthen the state’s security architecture in order to sustain ongoing economic development.
Makinde made the statement on Saturday at a dinner organised in honour of members of Syndicate 5 of Executive Intelligence Management Course 19 of the National Institute for Security Studies, held at the Local Government Training School Hall, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olarenwaju, the governor was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Musibau Babatunde.
He said effective collaboration and synergy among security agencies had been instrumental in maintaining peace and protecting lives and property across the state.
Makinde added that the current administration would continue to strengthen the security framework to ensure that economic development in the state is sustained.
He thanked the participants for choosing Oyo State for their study tour and commended them for their engagement and performance during the visit.
The Syndicate Supervisor, Julius Obukohwa, said the visit had enhanced the group’s understanding of governance, security challenges and environmental safety.
He also commended the state government for supporting security agencies with equipment to improve operational efficiency and tackle crime.
In separate goodwill messages, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, represented by Oba Mobolaji Adewoyin, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security Coordination, Major General Lukman Omoniyi (retd.), and the Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Wole Akinleye, congratulated the participants on the successful study tour.
They urged them to apply the knowledge gained to improve security management in their respective areas.
Dignitaries at the event included the Head of Service, Olubunmi Oni, Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Williams Akin-Funmilayo, the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola, and the Chairman of Ilaji Group, Dotun Sanusi, alongside other senior officials and traditional leaders.
