NDC Constitutes 17-Member Vetting Panel Ahead of Primaries

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has constituted a 17-member screening committee to vet aspirants seeking the party’s tickets for the presidential, governorship, Senate and House of Representatives elections ahead of its primaries.

The party disclosed this in a statement issued by its National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, stating that the committee would be inaugurated at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Former two-term Governor of Ebonyi State and ex-Senator, Sam Egwu, was appointed chairman of the committee, while the party’s National Legal Adviser, Reuben Egwuaba, will serve as secretary.

According to the statement, the committee is made up of party leaders, professionals and members of the National Working Committee.

Other members of the panel include Comrade Babatunde Ali, who will serve as deputy chairman, alongside Buba Galadima, Hon. Mohammed Sani Takori, Daniel Onifade, Ikeddy Isiguzo, Wole Adedayo, Dr. Osusu Osusu, Chief Asukewe Ikoawaji, Udenta Udenta, Barrister Frederick E. Owotorufa, Hannatu Tanko, Dogo Shammar, Sir Henry Obaze, Clement Agiagie and Barrister Fatima Musa Abba.

The party said the committee would be responsible for screening all aspirants contesting for elective positions under the NDC platform ahead of the conduct of its primary elections.
