NDC Fixes N60m for Presidential Nomination Form Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Nigeria Democratic Congress has announced the fees for its 2027 general election nomination forms, with presidential aspirants expected to pay a total of N60 million to contest the party’s primary election scheduled for May 29, 2026, in Abuja.
The party disclosed this in a timetable released on Wednesday and signed by its National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu.
According to the timetable, governorship aspirants will pay N30 million, while aspirants for Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats will pay varying amounts for their Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.
The NDC stated that the sale of Expression of Interest forms for all elective positions would begin on May 13 and end on May 18, 2026. Screening and interviews for aspirants are scheduled to hold between May 19 and May 21 before the commencement of nomination form sales from May 21 to May 23.
The party said completed nomination forms must be submitted on or before May 25, while appeals arising from the screening exercise would be treated on May 25 and May 26. Primaries for various offices are expected to hold between May 27 and May 28.
Under the approved fee structure, presidential aspirants are to pay N20 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N40 million for the Nomination Form, bringing the total to N60 million.
Governorship aspirants will pay N10 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N20 million for the Nomination Form.
Senate aspirants are expected to pay N3 million and N5 million respectively for the two forms, while House of Representatives aspirants will pay N2 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N4 million for the Nomination Form.
For State House of Assembly positions, aspirants are to pay N1 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N1.5 million for the Nomination Form.
The party stated that governorship primaries would be conducted at the local government level, while screening for State House of Assembly aspirants would take place in their respective states. It added that screening for National Assembly and presidential aspirants would be conducted at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
The NDC also announced concessions for women and persons living with disabilities. Female aspirants are to pay 50 per cent of the approved fees, while persons living with disabilities will receive a 75 per cent waiver across all categories.
The party said all aspirants would be required to sign undertakings in line with its code of conduct and electoral guidelines.
It further assured members and aspirants of a transparent and democratic primary process, adding that the “open secret ballot” system would be adopted to enhance credibility and transparency.
“The party remains committed to a transparent and democratic process that guarantees fairness, inclusiveness and internal democracy in the conduct of its primaries,” the statement said.
The NDC added that its nomination fees remain among the lowest charged by major political parties in the country and reaffirmed its commitment to producing credible candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
