Obi, Kwankwaso Join NDC

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his New Nigerian Peoples Party counterpart, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have formally joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress as part of moves toward the 2027 presidential election.

The decision, announced on Sunday, followed Obi’s earlier exit from the African Democratic Congress, signaling a political realignment by the two prominent figures ahead of the next general polls.

Both politicians were received at the party’s headquarters in Abuja by the National Leader of the NDC and former Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, alongside the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas.

The move is aimed at strengthening their chances for the presidency, as both leaders position themselves within the NDC platform.

Party officials described the development as a sign of growing nationwide confidence in the NDC, noting that the entry of the two political heavyweights could boost the party’s influence ahead of 2027.
