Ogundoyin Hails Supreme Court Verdict, Commends Makinde’s Leadership

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has said the Supreme Court verdict on the leadership crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party affirms the leadership style of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Ogundoyin stated this in a statement issued on Monday, describing the ruling as a turning point that validates the governor’s position during the party’s internal crisis.

He said the judgment has resolved disputes that had divided the PDP at the national level, adding that it reflects recognition of leaders who maintained their stance despite pressure and internal divisions.

According to the Speaker, Makinde’s actions before, during and after the 2023 general elections have now been affirmed both legally and politically.

He noted that the governor’s people centred approach distinguished him throughout the crisis, earning respect across political lines.

Ogundoyin also compared Makinde’s leadership style to the democratic traditions of past political figures, including Obafemi Awolowo, Samuel Ladoke Akintola and Bola Ige.

He pledged continued support for the administration, assuring that the political structure built under Makinde would be sustained and strengthened.

The Speaker emphasised the need for unity across Oyo State, noting that the administration has strengthened cooperation among various regions.

He added that Makinde’s leadership has contributed to the emergence of a new generation of political actors focused on service, inclusiveness and accountability.
