Olubadan Advocates Community Policing to Curb Crime in Oyo
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, on Saturday called for the adoption of community policing as a strategy to reduce criminal activities in Ibadan and across Nigeria.
Ladoja made the call during a luncheon held at the Banquet Hall of the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan, in Oyo State, organised in honour of participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 19, 2026 from the Institute for Security Studies, Bwari, Abuja.
The monarch stated that implementing community policing would significantly help in eradicating or reducing crime to the barest minimum in both the ancient city and the country at large.
According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Olugbemiga Ayoade, the event was also aimed at engaging participants on their week-long study tour of Oyo State and showcasing the state’s potential as a pace-setter.
Ladoja urged successful Nigerians with roots in Ibadan to contribute to the unity, progress and development of Ibadanland, noting that many prominent individuals had passed through the city.
Earlier, the Director of Studies and team leader, Halimah Ibrahim, commended the Olubadan and his council for the warm reception extended to the delegation, describing it as a reflection of the hospitality of Ibadanland.
She also offered prayers for the monarch’s continued good health, wisdom and peaceful reign.
Dignitaries at the event included the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola; Otun Balogun, Kolawole Adegbola; Osi Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi; and Ekerin Balogun, Oba Mobolaji Adewoyin, alongside other traditional leaders, government representatives and security officials.
