Oyo 2027: Ogundoyin, Lawmakers Endorse Adekanmbi as APM Guber Aspirant

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, on Wednesday led a delegation of lawmakers to endorse Bimbo Adekanmbi as the governorship aspirant of the Allied Peoples Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections in Oyo State.

The endorsement took place during a strategic breakfast meeting held at Adekanmbi’s residence in Iyaganku GRA, Ibadan, where members of the party in the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly gathered to discuss preparations for the next governorship election.

The meeting, according to sources, focused on strengthening party unity, building early political structures, and ensuring a coordinated approach towards the 2027 polls.

Speaking during the gathering, Ogundoyin described Adekanmbi as an experienced politician with the capacity to sustain good governance and provide purposeful leadership for the state.

He said the endorsement reflected the lawmakers’ collective confidence in Adekanmbi’s leadership qualities, political maturity, and understanding of governance.

“We believe Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi possesses the experience, exposure, and political understanding required to move Oyo State forward. Our gathering here today is not just symbolic; it reflects our confidence in his ability to unite stakeholders and provide inclusive leadership for the people of the state,” Ogundoyin said.

The Speaker added that members of the House remained committed to supporting individuals and initiatives capable of sustaining political stability, strengthening democratic institutions, and consolidating developmental achievements across the state.

He also stressed the need for early consultations and grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections, noting that political parties must begin engagements with members and stakeholders early enough.

Responding, Adekanmbi expressed appreciation to the lawmakers and party leaders for the confidence reposed in him, describing the endorsement as a major responsibility and a call to greater service.

He pledged to provide inclusive and people-oriented leadership if elected governor, promising to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde in infrastructure, education, healthcare delivery, economic development, and youth empowerment.

“I am deeply honoured by this show of confidence and solidarity from the lawmakers and party leaders. This endorsement is not just about me as an individual, it is about our collective aspiration to build a more prosperous, united, and progressive Oyo State,” he said.

Adekanmbi assured party members that he would continue consultations across the geopolitical zones of the state to promote inclusiveness and unity within the party.

He also advocated issue-based politics and urged political actors to avoid divisive tendencies capable of creating unnecessary tension in the political space.

Some lawmakers who attended the meeting described the endorsement as timely, noting that early alignment among party stakeholders would help reduce internal disagreements and strengthen the Allied Peoples Movement ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.
