Oyo Governorship: Makinde Reveals Preferred Successor
Governor Seyi Makinde has reportedly announced a former Commissioner for Finance under the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi, as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.
The governor was also said to have endorsed Dhikirulah Stanley Adedeji, Shina Abiola Peller and Ajadi Olufemi Oguntoyinbo as candidates for the Oyo South, Oyo North and Oyo Central senatorial districts respectively.
The development was confirmed on Wednesday night by the Oyo State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Michael Ogunshina, during an exclusive telephone conversation.
According to Ogunshina, the endorsements emerged after recent high-level consultations involving key political stakeholders in the state, a move that has generated fresh discussions within both the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and opposition camps.
Although Governor Makinde has yet to make any formal public declaration on the matter, Ogunshina confirmed that the governor had already made his decision known.
“Yes, it is confirmed, the governor has announced him,” Ogunshina stated.
