Peter Obi Quits ADC

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has resigned from the African Democratic Congress, citing internal crises and growing divisions within the party.

Obi announced his decision on Sunday in a statement posted on his verified X handle.

He said his exit was not due to any personal grievances with the party’s leadership, including its National Chairman, Senator David Mark, or former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

According to him, the challenges within the ADC mirror the issues that led to his departure from the Labour Party, including persistent internal conflicts and legal disputes.

Obi stated that the party is increasingly consumed by court cases, suspicion and internal battles, rather than focusing on addressing national issues.

He expressed concern over what he described as politics driven by control and exclusion instead of service and nation building.

Despite his resignation, Obi said he maintains respect for the party’s leadership and other stakeholders.
