Protesters Storm MTN Headquarters Over High Service Charges

Activists and other protesters on Wednesday stormed the Abuja head office of MTN Nigeria, demanding a reduction in what they described as high and exploitative service charges.

The protest was led by activist Omoyele Sowore, with demonstrators chanting slogans and calling for urgent reforms in the telecom sector.

At the company’s premises, protesters accused the network provider of imposing exorbitant fees while delivering poor service, citing complaints from users who allegedly paid for data that was not delivered.

They called on the company to immediately review its pricing structure and improve service quality for subscribers across the country.

The protest comes as the National Association of Nigerian Students announced plans to picket South African businesses, including MultiChoice, over ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The students’ body said the planned action is part of efforts to express dissatisfaction and demand accountability from affected companies.
