Tinubu Appoints 39-Year-Old Professor as New JAMB Registrar
President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
Aina will succeed Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose second term in office is scheduled to end on July 31, 2026.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, who described Aina as a distinguished academic and systems expert with experience in examination administration, digital infrastructure and institutional reform.
According to the statement, Aina holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, as well as a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University.
He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
Aina, who will turn 40 in July, is currently a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University.
The statement noted that he began his association with JAMB during his National Youth Service, where he gained experience in admissions administration and data-driven institutional processes.
It added that his professional background has contributed to his work in examination reform and systems optimisation.
Aina is also a member of several professional bodies, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
