Turaki-Led PDP Approves 2026 Primary Timetable, Fixes Presidential Form at N100m


The interim National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, led by Kabiru Turaki, has approved the timetable and guidelines for its 2026 pre-election activities, with presidential nomination forms pegged at N100 million.

The decision, announced in a statement issued by Comrade Ini Ememobong, sets May 5 to May 13, 2026, as the period for the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms, while completed forms must be submitted by May 14.

Screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 15 to May 18, with appeals fixed for May 21, and publication of cleared candidates on May 22. Ward primaries for all offices will hold on May 27, followed by appeals on May 28. The NEC will meet on May 29 to approve nominated candidates, while a special convention for ratification is slated for May 30.

The party also outlined fees for various offices, including N100 million for presidential aspirants, comprising N10 million for expression of interest and N90 million for nomination.

Further breakdown shows governorship aspirants will pay N40 million in total, Senate hopefuls N10 million, House of Representatives candidates N7 million, and House of Assembly aspirants N2 million.

The statement added that women are exempted from paying nomination fees and will only pay for expression of interest forms, while youths and persons living with disabilities will receive a 50 percent discount on nomination fees.
