ADC: Amaechi Pays Visit to Atiku

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Monday paid a visit to the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, at his residence in Abuja.

The visit, which also had in attendance a chieftain of the ADC and veteran Nollywood actor, Kenneth Okonkwo, alongside other dignitaries, came days after internal party developments surrounding the party’s presidential primary.

Details of the meeting were not made public at the time of filing this report.

Amaechi, who contested the ADC presidential primary alongside Atiku and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, came second in the election, while Atiku emerged the winner and Hayatu-Deen placed third.

Both Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen had earlier rejected the outcome of the primary, alleging that the process was not free and fair.

Following the conclusion of the exercise, Atiku had visited both Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen, urging them to support his bid and work together toward what he described as efforts to “rescue Nigeria.”

Monday’s visit is seen as part of ongoing political engagements within the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections, although neither party has officially disclosed the agenda of the meeting.
