2027: Kwara APC Youths, Stakeholders Back Guber Candidate, Seek Party Reconciliation

Youths under the Coalition of Kwara All Progressives Congress Young Stakeholders have called for comprehensive reconciliation within the ruling party following the conclusion of its 2027 governorship and other primary elections.

The group also reaffirmed its support for the APC governorship candidate, Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, describing his emergence from the May 22, 2026 primary election as credible and urging party members to unite ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, the coalition's coordinator, Mallam Biola Nasir, said the youths fully backed Danladi's candidature, noting that the Senator Musilu Obanikoro-led primary election committee had confirmed his victory.

“We unequivocally affirm our support for the governorship candidate, endorsed by our party leader, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,” Nasir said.

He urged aggrieved party members to embrace dialogue and utilise established party mechanisms to resolve grievances rather than taking actions capable of weakening the APC.

“APC remains one united family. Differences should be resolved through dialogue and established party mechanisms rather than actions capable of weakening our collective strength,” he added.

The coalition also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to democracy, peace and good governance.

The youths further appealed to party leaders at all levels to intensify consultations, organise town hall meetings and implement confidence-building measures aimed at strengthening internal unity before the 2027 elections.

“We call on sincere and comprehensive reconciliation within our great party. True reconciliation requires open dialogue, mutual respect, inclusiveness and a commitment to collective progress. As young stakeholders, we strongly advocate greater inclusion of youths and women in governance and decision making,” Nasir said.

In a related development, elders, stakeholders and members of the APC in Ifelodun Local Government Area also endorsed Danladi as the party's governorship candidate.

The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued after a stakeholders' meeting held on June 25, 2026, at the APC Contact Office in Jimba, Ifelodun Local Government Area.

Reading the communiqué, the Ifelodun Local Government Chairman, Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, said party leaders unanimously described the governorship primary as free, fair and credible and reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The stakeholders pledged to work for the success of the APC and all its candidates in the 2027 general elections.

They congratulated candidates who emerged from the party's primary elections and commended members across the constituency for their support throughout the exercise.

The communiqué particularly appreciated stakeholders in the Ifelodun, Offa and Oyun Federal Constituency for supporting the emergence of an Ifelodun indigene as the APC House of Representatives candidate.

“We express appreciation to the stakeholders from our federal constituency on the support for the emergence of an Ifelodun indigene as the candidate and flagbearer of the party for the House of Representatives of our constituency during the last primary election conducted,” the communiqué stated.

The stakeholders also commended Governor AbdulRazaq for efforts to improve security and infrastructure across the state, particularly in Ifelodun Local Government Area.

“We want to express our appreciation as well to the Executive Governor of Kwara State towards his relentless efforts in tackling the insecurity and infrastructural gap,” the communiqué added.

They dismissed claims by opposition parties that the APC could be defeated in the area during the 2027 elections, expressing confidence in the party's grassroots support and electoral strength.

The stakeholders pledged to mobilise members and supporters across the local government to ensure victory for all APC candidates and expressed optimism that the party would retain its dominance in the area.
