2027: Reject Vote Buying, Peanuts — APM Chair Tells Nigerians

National Chairman of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, and Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Yusuf Dantalle, has urged Nigerians to reject vote buying and elect leaders of their choice during elections.

Dantalle gave the advice on Monday during an interview on Frontline, a current affairs programme on Eagle 102.5 FM, Ilese Ijebu, monitored in Abeokuta.

He described vote buying as one of the greatest threats to Nigeria’s democracy, warning citizens against exchanging their future for financial inducements during elections.

According to him, Nigerians should make independent decisions at the polls regardless of monetary offers from politicians.

The APM chairman also expressed sympathy for President Bola Tinubu, stating that the president’s reform policies were well-intentioned but hindered by institutional weaknesses and systemic inefficiencies.

While acknowledging Tinubu’s efforts to address national challenges, Dantalle noted that Nigerians were currently facing severe economic hardship and insecurity.

He argued that the country’s worsening insecurity is linked to neglect, exclusion and poor governance, stressing that citizens would be more committed to national development if they felt a sense of belonging.

Speaking on the position of the APM, Dantalle said the party’s agenda is to “reset Nigeria” through a comprehensive review of the nation’s value system, institutions and governance structure rather than merely reversing existing economic policies.
