Babachir Lawal Vows to Block Atiku’s Presidential Ambition
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has vowed to work against the presidential ambition of Atiku Abubakar following his resignation from the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Lawal made the declaration in a statement issued on Monday, where he accused the ADC of manipulating its presidential primary election in favour of Atiku.
The former SGF, who recently announced his exit from the party, said he would consult with political associates and like-minded colleagues on strategies to prevent Atiku from emerging president in the 2027 general election.
According to him, the ADC presidential primary lacked credibility and was marred by alleged vote rigging and result manipulation.
Lawal also claimed that President Bola Tinubu possesses a stronger political structure capable of defeating Atiku and his supporters in the next election.
He further criticised the former Vice President, describing him as unfit for the presidency while expressing disappointment over the outcome of the ADC primary election.
The former SGF stated that he would temporarily withdraw from active politics to his village farm while observing developments ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
