Ekiti Poll: 'Clear Vote of Confidence’, Tinubu Congratulates Oyebanji

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his re-election, describing the outcome of Saturday’s governorship poll as a strong endorsement of continuity, stability and people-centred governance.

Tinubu conveyed the message in a statement issued following the declaration of Oyebanji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, as the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday.

The President commended the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful and orderly conduct during the election and for renewing their mandate for the governor.

He also praised security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process, contributing to a peaceful exercise.

Tinubu urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to sustain the conduct of peaceful, free, fair and credible elections as the country prepares for the Osun State governorship election in August and the 2027 general elections.

According to the President, Oyebanji’s victory reflects public confidence in the achievements recorded during his first term in office.

“With his overwhelming victory in the election, Oyebanji has emerged as the first governor in the history of Ekiti State to win re-election back-to-back,” Tinubu said.

He noted that the governor’s first term witnessed significant progress in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare and rural development.

“The renewed mandate is therefore a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability, and people-centred governance,” the President added.

Tinubu reaffirmed the importance of credible elections in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and encouraged all stakeholders to continue supporting efforts aimed at deepening democratic values and good governance across the country.
