Makinde Signs Security Order, Restricts Night Operations Of Commercial Motorcycles In Oyo

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has ordered the restriction of motorcycle operations across the state between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. as part of efforts to address insecurity and curb criminal activities.

The governor announced the measure on Friday through an Executive Order, stating that his administration remains committed to securing the safe return of the teachers and schoolchildren abducted in Oriire Local Government Area.

Makinde said the state government would not relent in its efforts until all the victims regain their freedom, noting that their continued captivity remains a source of concern for the administration and residents of the state.

According to him, each day the abducted pupils and teachers remain in captivity brings pain to their families and the entire state.

The governor assured residents that security operations aimed at rescuing the victims were ongoing around the clock, stressing that their safe return remains a top priority for his government.

He said the abductees had neither been forgotten nor abandoned, despite the limited public information on efforts being made to secure their release.

“We may not be able to disclose every step being taken because of the sensitive nature of the operations involved, but I ask our people not to mistake our silence for inaction. A great deal of work is being done behind the scenes,” Makinde said.

The governor reiterated his administration's determination to tackle insecurity and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies as efforts intensify to rescue the abducted teachers and pupils and strengthen public safety across Oyo State.
